I have a video on my Canon HG21 video camera that is corrupt. I can’t detect it on my laptop, so I can’t transfer it. The beginning of the video plays okay on the camera, but when it gets to a certain part it freezes (it’s about 1 and a half hours long). Is there any software I can download to fix this corrupt file? I’ve tried photorec, but it only recovered every other video I deleted and didn’t fix the corrupt one, and Stellar Phoenix Photo Recovery, which didn’t recover anything at all from my camera, not even the deleted videos. Please tell me there’s something I can do? This just so happens to be the most important video I had. I don’t even know how it corrupted, everything was working fine until now.

If the file is actually corrupt, there’s no way to un-corrupt it. That’s one of the disadvantages to digital video: it’s all or nothing. Either the video comes out perfectly clean, or it’s completely unusable.
